John Krakauer Biography
John Krakauer was born in Corvallis, Oregon in 1954. He was first introduced to mountaineering by his father when he was 8-years-old. He earned a degree from Hampshire College after graduating in 1976. Afterwards, he spent most of his time in the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and Alaska. He made money by being a carpenter and as a salmon fisherman. Krakauer climbed many difficult and dangerous mountains before summiting Mount. Everest.
